Ricochet16 is a city-wide focus on the arts featuring arts organizations, individual artists and other creatives in the region. Presented and developed by AIR (Arts Incubator of Richardson), Ricochet16 is the basis for creating a “culture map” of the City while also creating awareness for National Arts & Humanities Month in October. Ricochet16 is designed to be an annual event focused on the arts and creativity. From a kickoff social event on Friday night to all-day events on Saturday (10:00am – 4:00pm – all FREE), the ricochet effect will be exhibited as lovers of all types of creativity go from place to place across Richardson enjoying and engaging in a variety of creative activities. The diverse venues exemplify the long-range strategic plan for the arts’ concept of creative clusters and public art. Ricochet16 Events on Saturday, October 8 (all free and family-friendly!): Venues range from Galatyn Commons to Alamo Drafthouse Cinema/DFW to the Richardson Public Library and venues in between. At each venue there will be a variety of activities and performances exemplifying the artistic and creative vibe that “is” Richardson. Home base for the event is the Richardson Public Library where there will be a major yarn bombing, information desk, and a temporary public art installation of “BIRD” in partnership with sculptor Brad Oldham. New component! Ricochet Ride! A self-guided family-friendly bike ride with some public art along the route. Details will be posted on the AIR website – http://www.artsincubatorrichardson.org. Galatyn Commons will host a variety of rock bands at the north stage, while smaller groups and other activities will be at the south area (kite flying, bocce ball, dance, theatre, sketching) Food trucks at GC include Easy Slider and Sweets by Selina. Ricochet15’s successful sketch artist Edwin Chavez returns to the Barkway dog park from 10am – 1pm to draw pets and their people. Around noon, stop at Four Bullets Brewery to enjoy a brew and the “Creativity on Tap” special exhibit all about beer! Enjoy the sounds of the band Yardgoat and food truck BBQ from Pitt Commander. Chalk artists will be displaying their talents at Richardson Heights Village (SW corner of Central and Belt Line) with musical acts in the shopping area throughout the day, and a coloring station on the patio at Alamo Drafthouse! There will be no drought of things artistic and creative to do at Ricochet16! Ricochet16 maps will be published in the Sept/Oct edition of Richardson Living magazine.
