CMI's 30th Season Premiere

Chamber Music International is celebrating its 30th Season with seven concerts! Saturday, September 12, 7:30pm (St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church in –Richardson) and Sunday, September 13, 2:00pm (Dallas City Performance Hall) will mark CMI’s 30th Season Premiere featuring Piano Trio: Sheryl Staples, Carter Brey, and Dallas-favorite, Joyce Yang. Staples joined the New York Philharmonic in 1998 and currently serves as the Acting Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. She has performed chamber music for U.S. Ambassadors in London, Paris, Berlin, Beijing, and Hong Kong. Joining Ms. Staples in Dallas is New York Phil’s colleague, Carter Brey. Brey was appointed the principal cellist position in 1996 for his flawless technique and complete musicianship. He has made regular appearances with the Tokyo and Emerson String Quartets as well as The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Steinway Artist, Joyce Yang, will make her 6th appearance with CMI. Silver-medalist of the Van Cliburn Competition at the age of 19 in 2005, Joyce Yang has established herself as one of the leading artists of her generation through her charismatic performances and collaborations with the top orchestras in the world.

For only one night, Sept 12, CMI will also present its 2015 Young Artist Solo Winner, Emily Chung. Chung, a 16 year old Junior at Frisco Independence High School, has been awarded prizes in numerous competitions such as the Vernell Gregg Young Artist Competition, which allowed her to solo with the Lake Lewisville Symphony, and was also the co-principal cellist of the 2015 TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra. Her performance will begin at 7:00pm.
