DAAYO’s May 18th concert will feature renowned violist and Chamber Music International Artist Dr. Susan Dubois playing Romance for Viola and Orchestra, op. 85 and Kol Nidrei, op. 47 by Max Bruch with our Symphony Orchestra. Hailed by The Strad as "an impressive protagonist proclaiming a magnetic, outgoing personality, a lustrous, vibrant tone, and excellent intonation," violist Susan Dubois is considered one of the leading young artist-teachers of viola today. From New York’s Carnegie Hall to Argentina’s Teatro Colón, Dubois has won the hearts of audiences worldwide with her commanding and persuasive performances.

Also soloing will be Dr. Garry Evans, who formerly served as the principal clarinetist with the Garland and Las Colinas Symphony Orchestras and was the highest ranked American in the 2001 International Clarinet Association Young Artist Competition, finishing second. Dr. Evans also performs throughout the North Texas region and has appeared as a featured artist at the International Clarinet Association Clarinetfest®. Dr. Evans currently serves as Professor of Music at Collin College in Plano, Texas where he teaches music appreciation, applied clarinet, and directs the Collin College Symphonic Wind Ensemble and has served as E-flat clarinetist with the Dallas Wind Symphony since 2001.
