Field & Feather Perched on Paper & Canvas

Field & Feather Perched on Paper & Canvas

at Eisemann Center - Green Mezzanine-Gallery

To lovers of the arts and creativity and the beauty of birds,

AIR presents a special exhibit of avian art — Field & Feather — perched on paper and canvas,
featuring the art of wildlife photographer Larry Ammann and the bird collages of Liz Conrad.

The extraordinary and very personal show, Field & Feather, will be launched on June 2 and will be on display for the month of June at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts in its Forrest and Virginia Green Mezzanine Gallery.

Both Ammann and Conrad pay homage to birds and flight through their extraordinary creativity. Dr. Ammann, a professor of statistics at the University of Texas at Dallas by day, is known internationally for his photography work capturing and appreciating the splendors of the sky as well as a multitude of wildlife images that will capture your heart and mind. Within Field & Feather, Ammann’s pictures bring to life some private and very realistic moments with various types of birds. Lighting plays a very big role in the success of his patient artistic eye. Whether it’s the tip of a wing barely glazing the water or the sunlight shimmering through feathers, Ammann embraces the beauty of birds in their natural habitats.

Conrad’s works all tell a story…stories you can relate to. These are stories that will remind you of people you know, your family, a long-time favorite book. Whether it’s the wedding story of two good friends or the one about her father, during World War II, who “flew the Hump” – that barren eastern end of the Himalayan Mountains – Conrad’s beautifully designed and constructed collages draw the viewer in for a closer look, a warm sharing of familial love, and a divine use of color and texture. You feel like you’re looking through a small portal and with each collage you glimpse another little bit of her soul. Conrad, a graduate of Rice University, is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator.
