Concertmasters Come Together for Concert #3

at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church

CMI presents the Concertmaster from Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, in a one night performance of classic pieces, operatic music, and jazz songs. ALEXANDER KERR’s expressive and charismatic style has won him the Concertmaster title of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra since 2011. STEPHANIE JEONG was appointed Associate Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2011. She was a top prize winner and recipient of the Best Paganini Concerto Prize of the 2008 Paganini Violin Competition in Italy. DAVID CHAN, Concertmaster of The Metropolitan Opera, joined the orchestra in 1998 after winning first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. CHO-LIANG LIN, a Taiwanese American violinist who was named Instrumentalist of the Year in 2000 by Musical America and has collaborated with the most renowned conductors and musicians in the world. And to complete the ensemble, TIMOTHY PITTS, the double bassist professor at The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, will be joining the four violinists on stage. Pitts held the principal double bass position with the Houston Symphony for 17 years before retiring in 2009. For one evening only, these four world renown violinists and bassist will come together to thrill the audience with their versions of Mozart, Prokofiev, Bizet, Puccini, Joplin, and Gershwin!
