MODERN MASTERS—A FREE CONCERT PRESENTED BY THE PLANO COMMUNITY BAND

On Sunday, April 24, the Plano Community Band will present an engaging and varied program entitled Modern Masters, featuring 21st-century wind band compositions…with a sprinkling of earlier works whose composers—even today—are still considered Modern Masters.

In its 37th year of entertaining North Texas residents and led by Principal Conductor and Artistic Director Joe Frank, Jr., and Associate Conductor Jim Carter, the Band will perform works the whole family will enjoy.  The playlist includes breathtaking pieces such as Hazo’s Ride and Saucedo’s Windsprints, as well as an instrumental version of the choral masterpiece O Magnum Mysterium.  The concert will also feature a contemporary composition based on 19th-century hymns entitled Spangled Heavens by Donald Grantham.

The concert will be Sunday, April 24, at 2:30 p.m. at the Eisemann Center of the Performing Arts in Richardson and is free to the public.  Advance reservations are recommended and are available by visiting the Plano Community Band website at www.planoband.com.
