Although written and first performed over thirty years ago, the residents of Tuna, Texas could not be more up-to-date. Two of RCT’s leading funny men, Steve Miller and Jordan Tomenga play 10 different roles — men, women, children and dogs with lightning-fast costume and character changes. Directed by Debra Carter
“Greater Tuna,” by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, is the first of four comedies featuring the outrageous residents of Tuna — the third smallest town in Texas — where the Lion’s Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. This day-in-the-life look at Tuna features 20 characters, each more eccentric than the last. From local radio personalities Thurston and Arles, to beleaguered housewife Bertha with her wandering husband Hank and their three children; from the Rev. Spikes of the Coweta Baptist Church to Didi Snavely, the gravelly-voiced proprietress of “Didi’s Used Weapons,” this unique comedy gives its actors a banquet of comic possibilities.
