Senior Recital: James Kings

at UT Dallas Jonsson Performance Hall

James is a baritone vocalist, keyboardist, music composer and producer who is currently finishing his Bachelor of Visual and Performing Arts – Music Concentration degree at UT Dallas, and is on schedule to graduate this December. Please be sure to attend this free recital and hear him present music from several early music periods, including Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, and Modern, along with music from 20th century genres, which include Jazz, Blues/Country, Pop and Contemporary Gospel.

Portions of the recital are dedicated to the memory of “Chuck” Carl Clark Wachsman, James’ first college choir instructor and mentor, and “Boo” James Dante Kings, James’ beloved son and first-born.

Baroque: “Behold I Tell You a Mystery” / “The Trumpet Shall Sound” – George Frideric Handel
Classical: “Deh vieni alla finestra” – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Romantic: “Im Wunderschonen Monat Mai” – Robert Schumann
Impressionist: “Romance” / “Le Cloche” – Achille Claude Debussy
Modern: “At the River” – Arr. Aaron Copland
Jazz: *“The Way You Look Tonight” – Dorothy Fields and Jerome Kern
Country/Blues: “Tennessee Whiskey” – Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove
R&B: “Human Nature” – Steve Porcaro and John Bettis
Gospel: “Pass Me Not” – Fannie Crosby and William Doane, Arr. by James Kings (based on Luke 18:38)
