May You Survive in Interesting Times, is a direct response to the theme of this year’s international Venice Biennale. The 58th exhibition, curated by Ralph Rugoff and entitled May You Live in Interesting Times, references a phrase that is widely believed as an ancient Chinese curse manifesting itself in “one crisis after another”. However, this saying has a more recent, occidental origin, which has been adopted by politicians and employed as a tactic to rhetorically influence the state of affairs. All work presented will be installation based, emphasizing the theme of engineered experience.
