Timothy Berg and Rebekah Myers are a Claremont, Calif.-based artists’ collaborative known for casting everyday objects in unexpected ways that provoke questions of materiality, surplus and rarity, and the consequences the of 21st century consumer’s desires. The duo has created a bright green, ceramic rabbit that will be displayed near the DART CityLine/Bush Station in honor of the wildlife historically found in the area. The sculpture examines the value of authenticity and how it is recognized and valued. The rabbit is a singular representation of the multitude; a profusion of something is said to have multiplied “like rabbits.” It reinforces the idea that while it may appear each one of the multitude seems similar, they are all still one of a kind. The green color reinforces humorous allusions of freshness, renewal, burgeoning life and vitality. Berg and Myers have participated in multiple solo and group exhibitions in the US, Mexico, South Korea, Qatar and Kuwait. Their work is included in many private and public collections including The Betty Woodman Collection at the University of Colorado and the Biedermann Museum in Germany. Berg additionally works as an Associate Professor of Art at Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif. and a freelance curator. Both received Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado in 2000. Berg earned his master’s degree in fine arts in 2003 from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Myers continued studies in graphic design at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.

Gordon Huether was born in Rochester, N.Y. in 1959 to German immigrant parents. With dual citizenship in Germany and the United States, Huether has spent much time traveling between the two countries. He learned art composition and appreciation at an early age from his father, who was an artist and craftsman.  Huether resolved to create a lasting impact on the world through the creation of large-scale works of art and founded his studio in Napa, Calif. in 1987. Huether was commissioned through Sharon Corgan Leeber of Architectural Arts Company to create artwork that reflects CityLine’s goal of capturing the best of both worlds, the rural and urban landscapes, in one active-lifestyle environment. His resulting installation was inspired by the famous ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’ nursery rhyme and the iconic Texas longhorn, which connects to the area’s history and traditions. The sculpture’s falciform shape resembles the letter ‘C’, as in CityLine, another connection to the Richardson metropolitan neighborhood. Huether’s sculpture is approximately 25 feet tall, with the longhorn being approximately 7 ½ feet tall, sitting on top of the moon. The internal frame is constructed of aluminum tubing and the frame is clad in plexiglass and EPS foam with a carved moon surface design. The final finish of the sculpture is a resin coating. The piece sits atop an aluminum base and is illuminated from the exterior as well as from within with LEDs. Symbolizing the unique energy that created CityLine, and continues driving the project, Over the Moon is commemorated with a plaque that reads, “At CityLine, anything is possible when you spark imagination. Set lofty goals, make grand plans, then shoot for the Moon. With teamwork, innovation and commitment, your dreams will come true.”
