Based in Houston, Texas, Michelle Y. Williams uses a wide variety of media in her work – acrylics, oils, sand and pure pigments – and applies these to different substrates – canvas, metal, Plexiglass, wood and clay – to eliminate any self-imposed constraints in the creative process. Not confining herself to one medium enables her to experiment, explore and evolve, while drawing inspiration from the Japanese principles of Wabi-sabi, an acceptance of transience and imperfection.
